For new and prospective parents, you will find that our program is one of the best in the area.  We are known for our nurturing environment in small classes that employ Christian teachers.  Our goal is to not only prepare your child for kindergarten but to also share God’s love to all of the children.

Our program is non-denominational.  Our weekly chapel consists of Jesus' love for us and our love for others.  For example, we will recite a bible verse (i.e. The Lord delights in kind words. Proverbs 15:26) , read a story that may relate to the bible verse, sing a song learned from music class and recite a short prayer.

In the classrooms, the children are involved in thematic learning opportunities.  For example, in September children will talk about apples, bake apple treats, count apple seeds, read stories about apples, and make apple prints with paint...etc.  Children also have opportunities for free play in the classroom centers and on the playground.

Children will also attend music daily.  They are involved in playing instruments, creative movement, and finger rhymes.  Our music teacher, Vickie Kangas also prepares a Christmas and closing program.  Family members and friends are invited and encouraged to attend these events.

I hope you become as excited about Northwoods as we are.  Please feel free to email the director at preschool@northwoodsumc.org or call the preschool office at 910-346-9725 if you are interested in enrolling your child or have any questions.  Our school year hours are 8:45 am to 1:00 pm.  The office is open in the summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:45 am to 11:45 am.  We welcome you and your child to see that Northwoods Methodist Preschool is a “Great Place to Start.”
